Would you consider a Christmas tree as a gift? Arizona did.
In the white mountains of Arizona, near Alpine, an eighty-five foot tree was cut down to make its long journey to Washington D.C. It will be decorated and lit at the capitol building for Christmas.
This Christmas tree was the first national tree chosen from Arizona. Not only was it chosen from Arizona, it is the tallest Christmas tree to decorate the capital since 1964.
“It took weeks to decide which tree to choose,” said Rick Babalos, coordinator for the tree cutting.
“We took many tests on the tree before we finally cut it down.”
Said Babalos, “As we were chopping the tree down there were three eagles flying above the tree.”
The tree is believed to be 125 years old and six stories high.
